Riot Games' new shooter Valorant is very much the new hotness, and since it officially released earlier this year the floodgates are open with new players. That may even include you, reader! But depending on your equipment, you may find yourself wondering if non-Windows platforms are compatible with Valorant. After all, Riot Games does support Mac/OS X-native versions of League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. So how about Valorant? Can you play Valorant on Mac?
How to Play Valorant on Mac
The answer is mostly no, with a little bit of yes on the side. As of right now, there is no OS X-native version of Valorant, so you can't just hop over to the store and download it. However, Apple has long included a method to run software not compatible with its operating system. That company knows you'll likely want to do more with your Mac than allowed by default, and an official option is better than the alternative.

In order to play Valorant on Mac, you'll need to use Boot Camp. If you don't know what that means, most OS X computers from at least 2012 come with Boot Camp out of the box. If you have the hard drive space, Boot Camp allows you to install Windows in a partition of its own, giving you the option to choose which operating system you want to use. That way you can get the best of both worlds in one fancy device.
Boot Camp requires a legitimate Windows 10 purchase, as well as a Windows 10 ISO which is a readily available download from Microsoft's website. You'll need to keep your license key handy for activation during the install process. Boot Camp is super user-friendly; all you need to do is point it towards the ISO, choose the size of your partition, then follow the installation steps as with any fresh Windows install.

Once Boot Camp is all set up, there are different ways you can choose how your system boots. But by default, just hold the option key during startup and you'll get to the menu that lets you manually choose which OS to boot. Your main concern is storage, so make sure you have generous space available.
Are you planning to try to play Valorant on Mac? Are you going with the Boot Camp option, or do you intend to hold out for an official client? Talk to us over on the Prima Games Facebook and Twitter channels!
